Deadwood & Darkwood Camo Mockup Packs

Deadwood and Darkwood tree camo mockup packs featuring Independent Trading Co. heavyweight hoodies.

Camo isn’t just for hunting anymore.

From outdoor lifestyle brands to modern streetwear, realistic tree camouflage has become one of the fastest-growing aesthetics in apparel. Deadwood and Darkwood are two of the most recognizable examples, but they’re also some of the hardest patterns to design well. That’s why we’ve expanded our mockup library with dedicated mockups for these garments, giving brand owners a better way to refine ideas before moving into production.

Unlike traditional military camouflage that relies on abstract shapes, Deadwood and Darkwood are built to mimic real woodland environments. They feature lifelike trees, bark textures, branches, and natural shadows that create depth across the entire garment.

These aren’t random graphics either. Like most commercial camouflage, they’re created using repeating pattern tiles that seamlessly flow across the fabric, creating the illusion of one continuous forest. It’s a printing technique that’s been used for decades in hunting apparel because it delivers consistent coverage on large garment panels.

While these patterns have their roots in hunting gear, they’ve grown far beyond that space. Outdoor retailers like Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s helped popularize realistic tree camouflage, and today the aesthetic has found a new audience. Independent brands are using it for streetwear, workwear-inspired collections, outdoor apparel, and lifestyle drops that blend rugged heritage with premium branding.

That popularity also creates a challenge. Unlike a blank hoodie, Deadwood and Darkwood already have a visual identity before your artwork is added. Every logo, graphic, or piece of typography has to work with the pattern rather than compete against it.

This time, we built a new set of mockup packs specifically for Deadwood and Darkwood camo garments from Independent Trading Co.

Why Deadwood and Darkwood Need a Different Design Approach

Deadwood and Darkwood are not “put a logo on it” garments. These patterns already carry mood, movement, and texture. Your job is not to fight the camo. Your job is to direct attention.

A few things that actually matter when designing these patterns:

  • Large artwork often looks cleaner than medium-sized graphics because it avoids visual fragmentation.
  • Thin typography can disappear inside branch detail.
  • Center alignment can feel off because the pattern creates false visual balance.
  • Artwork with heavy distress usually competes with the garment texture.
  • Strong shapes and wider letterforms hold better than detailed illustrations.
  • Collections often look more premium when one design system is carried across multiple silhouettes instead of redesigning every garment.
  • Deadwood tends to allow slightly more artwork visibility while Darkwood rewards restraint.

Mockups help you catch these decisions before spending on production.

Final Note from Apliiq

These mockup packs were built for one reason. To help brand owners see their collection before committing to it.

Current releases include the Deadwood and Darkwood heavyweight hoodie series, and we already have more coming next, including Premium Tees and additional IND4000 camo mockups.

If you are building a camo collection, start with the mockup, narrow the direction, then move into sampling with confidence.
