Throughout this program we encourage you to build your target list. Find groups and teams you’re connected to and reach out with cool designs that may appeal to them. These groups are abundant on every college campus and many are looking for something a bit fresher than whatever boring tee they printed last year. Your challenge is to pitch them on Apliiq and convince them we’re the only platform they should use for custom t shirts, hoodies, hats or whatever they need this semester.
The key to being successful in sales is not just having a list but using it! Using your list means you reach out to your targets regularly, even after they place their first order, to ensure they’re happy and all their apparel needs are met. If they’re not quite ready, ask them when you should follow up. Figure out their events schedule and try to get their orders in 4 weeks prior so they have time and aren’t rushed. There’s so many reasons to stay connected and keep the conversation going. Ask questions and get to know your targets, the more personal the relationship, the easier it will be when they need your help with custom gear.
One pro-tip, design pieces for them and send them as text messages or emails separate from the site. This will keep price out of the initial conversation and just get them thinking about how cool their designs can be. Then we work with them (and you) to ensure we’re hitting their target budget whenever possible. Here’s a great old challenge on the design process.
