We’re updating our shipping process for structured hats, and there’s a simple reason behind the change.
We’ve heard from our partners that hats can take some pretty rough handling once they leave us. We can’t control everything that happens in transit, but we can control how we package them before they go out.
So going forward, structured hats will ship in unbranded cardboard boxes.
The added protection comes with a change in how these shipments are packed, which means we’re also adjusting the shipping charges to account for the larger boxed package and its dimensional weight.
Why the change?

Apliiq wants to create the best possible experience for your end customers!
Structured hats have more shape to them than a typical soft hat. When they’re packed tightly or handled roughly during shipping, that shape can take a hit.
We’d rather give them some extra room and protection than have a customer open their package and find a hat that didn’t make the trip very well.
It’s not a change to the hat itself. It’s a change to how we get the hat to your customer.
A better way to send them
Once a package leaves our hands, it can pass through sorting equipment, trucks, warehouses, and plenty of other packages before it reaches your customer. We can’t control all of that. We can make sure the packaging starts the journey in a better place.
That’s why we’re moving structured hats into boxes.
You’ll see the updated shipping charges reflected on structured hats as we make this transition. The adjustment accounts for the way these hats will now be packed and shipped, including the additional space the box takes up.
There’s nothing you need to change about your hat or your design.
For us, this is less about changing a shipping method and more about getting the basics right. You put the work into your product and your brand. We want the customer opening the package to get the product you intended them to get. That’s the whole reason for the change.
📅 This change will take effect on our end starting August 14.
A quick note on shipping charges: what you should do next:
Within your store, update your variant weights to 15.9 oz for your structured hats. This weight will reflect the true billable (dimensional) weight for hats going forward. That’s all you need to do. Once updated, your store will be set up for the new shipping charges.
